An Undesired Love

Vertumnus is such a childish god. Instead of showing his real self, he would use costumes instead impersonating someone else. He may be shy, but it doesn't mean that as a soldier or a farmer, his shyness would go away that easily. If Pomona doesn't even pay him attention in the beginning, how does he think she would find interest in him as a a mortal? Even if she would pay attention to him, it would be to the soldier or the farmer, not Vertumnus himself.

Personally, I would prefer ten times more a god than a simple farmer who just says " Howdy". As Pomona, a god could be even better. He even uses his costume impersonating an old woman, and he makes it so obvious! He says " I know him as well as I know myself, and I warrant, I guarantee, that his eyes are for you alone. Consider that he´s young , attractive, healthy, and strong. "( pg. 51)

Movies have said that what women most hate of guys (rather than cheating on them) is by not being themselves. This is were the famous frase appears of " It is not the guy I first met".

As for Myrrha, I think it was cruel of Aphrodite to punish her for not loving someone. As movies say again, " How could someone be forced to love?". Poor girl since it was of her father! Even so, what I find grotesque of him us that with his wife gone, he decides to go with a younger woman meanwhile, without even knowing who she was! Then, trying to drown her? He should be the one embarrassed since he was cheating in his wife with their own daughter.
