Teachings 7-9
As Lord Krishna started his lecture of knowledge and judgment. He said that nature his had eight aspects ¨ earth, water, fire, wind, space, mind, understanding and individuality¨. (pg.73) I think this kind of nature refers to us, human beings. it is usually how we should think. Obviously they mention earths´s elements, but also man´s, or at least as we think how a living creature may think. ¨This is my lower nature; know my higher nature too, the life force that sustains this universe¨(pg.73) ¨Know that nature´s qualities come form me-lucidity, passion and dark inertia; I am not in them, they are in me¨(pg.74)
I think that Lord Krishna instead of giving a lecture is more like praising himself. ¨I am the rite, the sacrifice, the libation for the dead, the healing herb, the sacred hymn, the clarified butter, the fire, the oblation. ¨(pg. 87) Most of his teachings are what he thinks is right. Sure, they follow his teachings because he is a powerful god ¨Arjuna, four types of virtuous men are devoted to me; the tormented man, the seeker of wisdom, the suppliant and the sage¨. (pg. 75). Lord Krishna is perfect, he has all reasons and he is the greatest one. Even how, aren't there supposed to be thousands of gods in India? ¨Keep me in your mind an devotion , sacrifice to me, bow to me, discipline yourself toward me and you will reach me!¨(pg. 90)
How come he is the one Arjuna must follow (skipping the fact he is his charioteer).
The big question is, what is the truth? What is the real meaning of everything?
With the infinite soul, it reminded me of Buddhism. The reincarnation that was infinite. Very few people could have eternal peace in paradise but it was really hard. ¨Arjuna, I shall tell you precisely the time when men of discipline who have died suffer rebirth or escape it¨.( pg. 82) I highlight suffer because it is really ironic. First, we all think life of men is short. Rebirth sounds like a second chance for everyone, why suffer? What I like about this believe is that in India, people shall be good so in their next life or second chance, they can have a much more better one. A poor person lives happily with no regrets towards the rich people because the hate will not help for their second life. If they want to live like the rich person, they should be very good people in order to achieve it. They also don't have any dreams or aspirations. If they were born to serve the table, their whole life will be towards it. If people could think in this way, there wouldn't be much hatred or even violence. Just people trying to be good in order to achieve what they longed for.
I related this video with the reading because as soon as I started reading the teachings, it suddenly came up to my head Homer Simpson in India. The first video relates to some of the gods of India in how is their system of believe.
The second video is about Homer Simpson, as an Indian God because he thought he was a God because Mr.Burns gave him the power for a moment while he would go and swim with his ¨friends¨in the Ganges.
Finally, the third video reminded me of India. The Simpson's make it so real and hilarious.
