The story of Alcyone and Ceyx is a very different love story. Obviously they loved each other a lot, and they had to be separated, but , the idea was for him to go back! It was so sad that Alcyone´s husband was killed by her own father. In the usual love story, at least the gods would have pity for poor Alcyone, and at least in a way, they would bring Ceyx back. Instead, she is turned into a bird. At least she ended up with him again.I felt so much pity for Alcyone specially when the fake Ceyx appears and tells her: ¨Get up from your bed and put on your mourning clothes¨(pg.30) No matter how much he would tell him to come back, he never did. ¨All the night she searched along the shore for her drowned, dreamed husband¨(pg.30).
This story reminded me to Titanic. When the ship already sank and both, Jack and Rose are together in a door that is floating nearby. As Jack always said that everything would be alright, and he would never let go. Eventually he died, leaving Rose alone. No matter how she called back at him and cried, there was nothing else to do. In both stories, the lovers didn't have a very happy ending.
